Fotogrammi | Ideas Depictions is both a poetry and photography collection. Anna Utopia Giordano contributes to the project by creating a poetic photograph of each poem, using a methodology inspired by photographic ISO values: brief lexical images through which she interprets Enrico Santus Aversano's poems. The 40 short poems by Enrico Santus Aversano that make up Fotogrammi depict, with an inspiration drawn from Montale and Caproni, blurred representations of the author's inner and outer everyday life.

Rather than fixing the moment in a syntactic formula, he sketches it in its becoming, often postponing decisions and intentions. This incompleteness makes each photogram independent in one sense, while closely connecting it to those that precede and follow it in another.

In photography, the sensitivity of film is measured in ISO values: the higher the value, the more sensitive the film or sensor is to light. Drawing on this photographic principle, Anna Utopia Giordano “takes” photographs of photographs: she “illuminates” the 40 poems by proposing ISOs, very short “lexical images” distinguished by the degree of “sensitivity” in her interpretation of Enrico Santus Aversano's poems and by her choice of a cryptic and raw language. Utopia's ISOs include mathematical formulas and terms drawn from biology, chemistry and philosophy. As when confronted with surreal and conceptual images, the reader needs to pause and “observe” the ISOs carefully, also reconsidering Fotogrammi in the light of these new suggestions.

Photographers
Milo Alterio, Lorenzo Brusadelli, Francesca Cao, Daniele Carfora, Paolo Liggeri, Alessandro d’Onofrio, Vincenzo Pagliuca, Nicola Serra, Un Artista Minimalista e Marco Ventimiglia are the 10 photographers involved in the project. Their photographic images, four for each photographer, enrich Fotogrammi and give the project greater expressive strength.
